Thalle Construction Co., Inc. ("Thalle") is currently seeking a Senior Estimator. The Senior Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator and work closely with and support the estimating team. Our ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our Regional office in Alvarado, Texas.

Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Job Title: Senior Estimator

Salary: Competitive compensation package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates and prepares project information for presentation to management for selection to pursue. Lead and participate in estimate strategy planning. Performs and oversees detailed quantity take-offs. Provides verification of take-offs by support staff. HCSS estimate entry from creation thru close-out Prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs occurred in heavy civil industry projects. Responsible for preparation of HCSS and take-off spreadsheets. Reviews estimates and construction documents for efficiency and understands scope of work to bid. Attends client pre-bid meetings, job showings, and job site visits. Maintains detailed notes and records of all verbal information disseminated by the client during pre-bid meetings and job showings. Must have the ability to explain details behind each estimate, including the basis of the man-hours allocated for each task, personnel resources needed to execute each task, etc. Maintains cost estimating tools including databases, spreadsheets, and other computer-based applications to keep updated information on past performance and industry standards. Determines and evaluate alternative project execution approaches based on the scope of work and the most cost-effective execution methods available. Maintains lines of communication between company departments, project managers, and client with regards to cost estimating activities. Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving. Displays tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personnel. Lead bid reviews. Responsible for subcontractor acquisition, scope verifications, and negotiation. Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: A degree in construction or engineering related field or commensurate experience. Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Lead or Senior Estimator. Experience estimating projects more than $25 million. Experience estimating heavy civil projects such as, mass excavation and utility projects, storm water, roads and bridges, treatment plants, and pumping stations. Experience with HCSS & Agtek required. Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
